Matcha Spelt Buns

Matcha buns, anyone?!

Start your day with a twist - try our Matcha Spelt Buns!  These aren't your average buns; they're a delightful blend of nutritious spelt flour and energizing matcha. Spelt flour brings more vitamins and a higher protein punch than regular wheat, along with being gentler on digestion. Matcha not only adds a gorgeous green color but also a dose of antioxidants. These buns are a tasty way to enjoy something different, healthy, and absolutely delicious. Perfect for a feel-good breakfast or a snack that's as good for you as it tastes!

 

What do you need?

2 3/4 cups spelt flour

1/4 cup oat flour

1 tbsp Ceremonial Matcha powder

1 tbsp flax seeds

1 1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp instant yeast

1 1/2 cups water 

pumpkin seeds

sunflower seeds

 

How to make these beauties?

1. combine 3/4 cups of spelt flour with the yeast and all the water. Stir the ingredients together with a wooden spoon and let it rest for 30 minutes. 

2. add all the other ingredients and kneed together until well combined. 

3. cover the dough with some foil and let in rest in a warm place for at least one hour - towards 4 would be better. Preparing the dough the day before; place the dough in the fridge and take out 1/2 hours before baking and keep it in a warm place to raise. 

4. flour your kitchen surface and transfer the dough. the dough will be quite sticky so don't be scared to use some extra flour. 

5. knead the dough for around 5 minutes and create equal balls of dough.

6. add some olive oil to and baking tray and place the buns inside and let them rest another 30 minutes

7. preheat the oven on 200 degrees celsius

8. wet the top of the breads with a little bit of water and sprinkle some sunflower and pumpkin seeds on top. Make them extra special by adding some dried rosemary as well. 

9. add the baking tray to the oven and bake for 40/45 minutes

10. let them cool a bit before enjoying them and store in a airtight container for 5 days or freeze them.
